Welcome to Emery Down Almshouses
Known locally as ‘Boultbee Cottages’

Our Grade II listed cottages, built in 1871, were restored, extended and modernised in 2014 with the guidance of a Project Sub-Committee. The redesigned cottages retain their traditional character and His Royal Highness The Prince of Wales, Patron of the Almshouse Association, said that it was “an outstanding Almshouse development” which made it worthy of his Patron’s Award now displayed on the end wall of the cottages. Mrs Jan Smart who successfully steered the project as Chairman of Trustees said “the renovated cottages are a source of pride and the homes they provide are a joy to their tenants. The intense interest shown in the scheme has emphasised the severe shortage of affordable housing within the New Forest National Park”.

There are five cottages, four of them are designed for single occupancy and one is for a couple. All of the cottages are occupied at present.

We do not have a ‘first come, first served’ waiting list, but please complete our contact form if you wish to be considered by interview for a place in one of our cottages when the next vacancy arises.
